How To Set Up A Yoga Facebook Page - Guide For Yoga Teachers

Did you know that worldwide there are over 1.86 billion monthly active Facebook users? Facebook’s here to stay, my friend. If you don’t have a Yoga Facebook Page yet for your yoga business, maybe because you just don’t know where to start, this guide shows you exactly what to do – step by step.

If you already have a page, I’m sure I have some tips for you too. For example, have you set up an auto-responder message or made sure you have the right details in your ‘about’ section? Read on to learn more.

Step 1: Head To Facebook Page Creation

To start setting up your yoga Facebook page, go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/creation/ and start filling in the basic details including your page name, business category, and a description for your page. Then click ‘Create page’ at the bottom. Note that you need to have a personal Facebook account to create a business page.

You’ll be greeted with several category options including local business, brand, or public figure. If you’re a local yoga studio, choose ‘Local Business or Place’.

If you run a global business, for example selling yoga retreats, choose “Company, organization or institution”. You can choose ‘Travel Company’ as your category.

If you are a yoga teacher, you can choose either company too or ‘Artist, Band or Public Figure’. As a category, I recommend choosing ‘Teacher’ or ‘Coach’.

You can change the category and name later on if needed.

Step 2: Add Your Cover & Profile Photos

Add a wide, high-quality 1640 x 924 pixel image for your cover photo and a professional headshot to use as your profile photo. You can upload a square imagine but just bear in mind that it will get cropped by the circular format Facebook page profile pictures have.

You can update your cover image as often as you like to keep your page fresh or emphasize something new. Need some inspiration? Canva (*affiliate link) is a super helpful tool for Facebook cover photos as it comes with several premade templates that look great right out of the box.

For your profile photo, I recommend using a personal photo and not a logo, unless you represent a company with more people.

Step 3: Check Mobile Compatibility

Use the icons on the far right-hand side to test the mobile view and compatibility of your new Facebook page. You can click the desktop icon to see how your page looks on a PC and the mobile icon for the view across all mobile devices.

This allows you to make sure that your page looks professional and is easy to use across any device that people may be finding you on. Just a tip – most people will be on their mobiles, so make sure you’re always checking what your page looks like in that format!

Step 4: Unpublish Your Page

Facebook sneakily publishes your new page right away. But I guess you’ll want to edit your page and settings first before everyone sees your brand new page. To unpublish your page, simply go to ‘Settings’, ‘General’ and then ‘Page Visibility’. Change to ‘Unpublished’ and save.

Step 5: Edit Your Call To Action Button

The first thing you’ll want to do from the front end of your page is edit your call-to-action button. This is under the cover photo and your name, just to the right-hand side.

You’ll be presented with so many different options here like send an email, sign up, send a message, and so on. Depending on what you choose here, it will then give you further options. I personally like ‘learn more’, or some form of contact button.

Step 6: Add Key Details For Your Yoga Facebook Page

First, enter a user name. It’s easier for people to find your page in search when it has a unique username. Usernames must be at least 5 characters long and you can’t claim a username someone else is already using.

Next, you’ll want to head to your Yoga Facebook Page settings to disable visitor posts, allow message, post in multiple languages (if you choose), and so on.

Step 7: Edit Your Template & Tabs

If you then go back onto your page settings, you can see a ‘templates and tabs’ section. Click on this and choose your template. For most of us, services will be the best option here, so that’s what I recommend. But you also have business, venues, public figures, and so on. It doesn’t really make a big difference. It does give you some of the tabs that are on your Facebook page, but you can edit these anyway.

Editing your tabs is just underneath the templates section, and you can drag and drop the tabs into the order you would prefer. The tabs are the ‘bookmark’ style buttons next to your CTA button on the left, which people can click on quickly and easily to toggle through your page information. For services, you wouldn’t need the shop tab so you could unselect this, along with offers and anything else that you don’t need. You could then show services, reviews, and photos. This is up to you, but I definitely recommend customizing them.

Step 8: Connect Your Business Instagram Account

If you have an Instagram account, you can connect this to your Facebook page. This will make it easier for you to create ads directly in Facebook for Instagram, and respond to comments and direct messages here in Facebook so that you don’t have to go into the Instagram app all the time.

You can also set it up so that anything you’re posting onto Instagram automatically get’s shared on your Yoga Facebook Page too! This saves you from having to manually post on two different platforms.

Step 9: Edit Your ‘About’ Section

The next thing you’ll want to do is to edit your about section. You’ll want to edit an Impressum which is especially important when you’re in the European Union. You can edit your about info, your contact information, and more business details.

This is what people really look at when they go to your business page, so you’ll want to make sure that this section is always kept up to date. You could even schedule a check-up for your Facebook page every 3-6 months in your calendar so that you can go in and check everything.

Step 10: Add An Auto-Responder Message

You can send an automated message to everyone messaging you through your Facebook page. To set it up go to ‘Settings’ and ‘Messaging’. Here you can set up customized automated responses. Turn on instant replies, and then edit the message to personalize it!

I recommend setting this up to everyone – it’s super easy and will tell your customers that you take them seriously and build trust. Of course, you should still get back to them as soon as possible, but the auto-responder will give you some extra time.

Step 11: Add Content to Your Yoga Facebook Page

Add photos that will positively reinforce your brand or help people get an idea of what to expect from your business or service, as well as your first post, for example a welcome message.

Step 12: Publish Your Page

If you’re happy with how everything looks, go back to ‘Settings’ and publish your page. Invite your friends and family to like your page and start promoting it. Then start posting updates about your business, special offers and more as soon as it’s live.
